Manual and podcast published: Tips and tools for attracting, selecting and retaining trainees
Against the backdrop of labour shortages and the increase in ghosting in Europe, i.e. not showing up on the first day of work despite having signed an employment contract, associations, SMEs and educational institutions from Germany, Italy, Greece and Spain initiated the Erasmus+ project JOB Orientation – better fit. Since November 2024, the consortium has been analysing and comparing approaches for the successful recruitment and onboarding of new employees in construction companies. The project presents these best practices, external support measures in the participating countries and various low-threshold, practical tools in its final project result, a comprehensive handbook with concrete recommendations for action. In addition, the WHKT presents the key findings of the exchange in a recently published German podcast.
These project results are primarily aimed at companies, especially in the construction sector. In addition, educational institutions, chambers and career guidance centres can also benefit from its contents. Basically, it is intended for anyone who accompanies young people on their way into professional practice. The tools and tips presented can help strengthen the bond between trainees and companies and show companies how they can modernise their recruitment process. They can also help companies identify challenges early on, so they can adjust the preparation and induction phase to prevent trainees from dropping out.
The manual and the podcast are published on the project website.
